November 2025 Program Recording

The recording of the presentation by Ray Schneider titled “Black&White vs. Color” given to the Focus Camera Club on November 12, 2025.

Program Description

Why are some pictures stronger in black and white?

This extremely interactive presentation will explore the reasons why some pictures are stronger and more memorable in black and white. And we will discuss how subject, color, texture, shape, contrast, mood, and other factors impact the viewer’s perception of whether black and white or color makes for a stronger picture — one they don’t forget.

During this presentation Ray will show pairings, black & white and color, of a host of images covering the full range of photographic genres including landscape, portrait, wildlife, nature, and street photography.

By the end of this presentation everyone will have a greater appreciation for when Color or Black & White seems to be the preferred choice for how to represent any particular image.
