July 2023 Program Recording

The recording of the presentation from Oz Pfenninger titled “Photographing Antarctica and Neighboring Islands” given to the Focus Camera Club on July 12, 2023.

Program Description

Oz and his wife took a three-week photographic journey by ship to the Antarctic Peninsula including visits to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Island and the South Orkney Islands in December/January 2022/23. Shore excursions were by 10 person Zodiacs (inflatable rubber boats).

Learn about photographing birds in flight and 7 species of penguins on shore, as well as the difficulties of shooting in a cold saltwater environment. See the beauty of the fantastic shapes of icebergs and snow-covered mountains. And there’s more, including whales, former whaling stations, the present-day danger of bird flu to the birds of Antarctica, and it’s all illustrated by fantastic photos.

Oz is a longtime member of Focus Camera Club and we appreciate him sharing his knowlede and experience with us.
