Focus Program Meeting – Presentation by Scott Wilson on ‘A personal journey towards photo advocacy’
Landscape & wildlife photographer, Scott Wilson, shares his self-taught love affair with photography, starting with a Nottinghamshire (UK) camera club, tackling multiple genres and ‘breaking through’, before making a dream move to Colorado, in 2015. That dream turned nightmare with a stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis that threatened his life and his landscape photography pursuits, due to chemo-induced photosensitivity. So, Scott shot wildlife from the protective shade of his car and turned his new nature portfolio into a platform for cancer advocacy.
Scott Wilson made his dream move to Colorado in August 2015, relocating from the UK, where he was a four-time finalist in the Landscape Photographer of the Year. A regular exhibitor at the Robert Anderson Gallery, Scott’s work has appeared extensively in media including The Sunday Times, Denver Life, Digital Photographer, Colorado Outdoors, 303 Magazine and he was named ‘Denver’s Best Instagrammer’ in 2017, by Westword Magazine. Scott’s coverage of Colorado’s wild mustangs was recently featured on Denver 7 and earned Colorado Life Magazine’s Wildlife Image of the Year award in 2019.
