May 2015 Program Meeting
May 5, 2015 @ 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM
Focus Program Meeting – Presentation is “Portraiture (Studio and Non-Studio)” by Cliff Lawson
Are you one of those who hate the way your flash images look? Does everyone have the appearance of looking at a nuclear blast? Do your family images look like everyone has red devil-eyes?
This program should cure your photography of all those ills and get you on the way to using your flash properly for beautiful people pictures. Cliff Lawson will demonstrate the use of on-camera flash and then move to using that flash off the camera for professional-looking directional light. He will start with one flash, add a reflector and then two flashes with a reflector. You will learn about relatively inexpensive modifiers that will make those small speedlights into huge, soft lights.
Cliff’s interest in photography began while in college in the 60’s. After a career as an airline pilot, he retired in 2003 and began a second career as a photographer. Currently, his business is partly sports – mainly motorsports and swimming – and partly portrait work.
Cliff has been a member of Focus since 2003 and is a PPA (Professional Photographers of America) Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) and as many of you know, was awarded his Master Photographer degree (M. Photog.) from the PPA this past February. Cliff has been entering Focus print competitions since his very first meeting and PPA State, District, and International Print Competitions since 2010. Cliff is the recipient of two Fuji Masterpiece Awards, 13 PPA merit images, and was a 2014 PPA Bronze-Level Photographer of the Year for receiving a merit on all four of his print entries.
