March 2105 Program Meeting
March 3, 2015 @ 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM
Focus Program Meeting – Presentation is “Putting in Your Two Cents – Critiquing & Judging Photographic Imagery” by Jeff Johnson
Is there a difference between critique and judging? In this program, Jeff Johnson will provide us with information on how to constructively and positively critique photographic images as well as how to fairly judge and review an image for competition. Critiquing and judging are two distinctively different processes that are often confused or used interchangeably. And what’s worse…both words typically strike fear in the hearts of photographers. Come learn how constructive criticism and photographic competitions can be a great learning tool and how they can help you become an incredible image-maker. All it takes…is the right point of view!
In addition to describing what critiquing and judging are, Jeff will describe similarities the differences, the advantages of each, and teach us how to give a positive and constructive critique. This will help each of us to be objective in the assessment of our own work. Really…it is possible!
For those unfamiliar with Jeff, he was born and raised in the world of photography. His parents had a very successful portrait studio for more than fifty years in Rockford, IL. Jeff has earned the Degrees of Master of Photography, Photographic Craftsman and Certified Professional Photographer from the Professional Photographers of America. He has also been honored with three Fellowship Degrees from the Professional Photographers of Colorado and earned the distinction of Colorado Master Photographer of the Year three times (2006, 2010 & 2011). He was honored in 2011 with the prestigious PPA National Award for his continuous contribution and service to the photography industry.
